Reception

Wyatt Lee and J. D. Lambright wrote in Computer Gaming World that action game fans seeking a difficult game might prefer a strict arcade game like John Elway's Quarterback, but players wanting the atmosphere, flow of play, and fast-moving competition of professional football would enjoy it. In Games International, Ernesto Williams, unfamiliar with American football, found the game taught him the sport. He praised the graphics and audio but disliked the occasional appearance of sports announcers, noting that this window dressing could be skipped to speed up play. He also cited incessant disk swapping as a slowdown. He gave the game and its graphics 4 out of 5, calling it simple but subtle and requiring time to appreciate. Matt Taylor of Computer Gaming World remarked that as a multiplayer game, the call on TV Sports Football was positive. In 1996, Computer Gaming World ranked it the 112th-best computer game ever released.
