Lore & Background
In a world where information is often controlled by powerful factions like the Knives or the Public Security Bureau, Milly's crew represents the voice of the common citizen. They are not soldiers or bounty hunters; they are observers who inadvertently become central to the grand narrative of Vash and Knives. Their presence highlights the human cost of the conflict between the two brothers, as they witness the destruction and chaos that ripples through ordinary towns. The crew's dynamic is built on a foundation of professional ambition mixed with genuine camaraderie. Milly drives the van and directs the narrative, while her colleagues handle photography and technical support. Despite their lack of combat training, they display remarkable resilience when caught in crossfires or chases. Their journey serves as a lens through which the audience sees the world of Gunsmoke, grounding the high-stakes sci-fi elements in relatable human experiences.
Reader's Guide
The crew operates with a flat hierarchy centered around Milly Thatch's vision, functioning less as a corporation and more as a tight-knit family of dreamers. Their ideology is rooted in the belief that truth must be broadcasted regardless of personal risk or political consequence. They are not aligned with any major faction, maintaining neutrality even when forced to choose sides by circumstance. Key members include Milly herself, whose relentless drive often puts them in harm's way, and her support staff who manage the van's systems and camera equipment. Their goal is simple yet profound: to document the reality of Gunsmoke before it is erased by propaganda or war. In the conflict between Vash and Knives, they serve as accidental witnesses who humanize the stakes, often finding themselves saved by Vash while inadvertently complicating his attempts at anonymity.
