Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium
Non-profit consortium co-managing Alaska's highest-level trauma center.
The Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium (ANTHC) is a non-profit health organization based in Anchorage, Alaska, serving 158,000 Alaska Natives and American Indians. Established in 1997, it is a consortium of tribal regional health organizations with a board equally representing all tribal regions. ANTHC co-manages the Alaska Native Medical Center (ANMC), a 150-bed level II trauma center—the highest level achievable in Alaska—which has Magnet Status for nursing excellence, a designation held by only about 7 percent of U.S. hospitals and the only tribal-operated hospital with that status. ANTHC launched the Alaska Federal Health Care Access Network in 1998 for telehealth services and developed the Alaska Dental Health Aide Program in 2003, providing oral health care to over 35,000 individuals. In 2017, ANTHC opened a 202-bed patient housing facility that includes a Ronald McDonald House, the first partnership of its kind with a tribal organization.
