Reader's Guide

Total War: Warhammer II is significant as a major entry in the Total War series, expanding the Warhammer Fantasy setting with new races and a narrative-driven campaign. Its release on multiple platforms broadened its audience. The game's Mortal Empires campaign, available free to owners of both Total War: Warhammer and Total War: Warhammer II, combined the maps and factions of both games into a large sandbox experience. The downloadable content added diverse factions with unique mechanics, such as the undead pirates of the Vampire Coast and the ancient Tomb Kings. The game's legacy includes its sequel, Total War: Warhammer III, released in February 2022, which continued the series. The game's plotlines, such as the Battle for the Vortex and the Rise of the Tomb Kings, are drawn from Warhammer Fantasy lore and provide context for the conflicts. The game's multiplayer and custom battles modes extended its replayability.
