The 1942 Stanley Cup Final was a best-of-seven series between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Detroit Red Wings. After losing the first three games, the Maple Leafs won the next four to win the Cup, becoming the first team in North American sports history to overcome a 3–0 series deficit; Toronto is still the only NHL team to win a Stanley Cup Final after trailing 3–0.

Background
It was the first Stanley Cup Final to go seven games. Toronto had beaten the New York Rangers 4–2 to reach the Final. Detroit won the first two games in Toronto 3–2 and 4–2, with Don Grosso scoring twice in each, and won 5–2 at Olympia Stadium before the Leafs won 4–3, 9–3, 3–0 and 3–1. Pete Langelle scored the Cup-winning goal in the third period of Game 7 at Maple Leaf Gardens. Hap Day coached Toronto and Syl Apps was captain.
