Reader's Guide

Touka Kirishima is a key character in Tokyo Ghoul S, played by Maika Yamamoto. She works at Anteiku, a coffee shop that is a safe haven for ghouls. In the film, Touka's primary actions involve rescuing Kimi Nishino from the ghoul Shuu Tsukiyama. Touka teams up with Nishiki Nishio to fight Tsukiyama and free Nishino. After the rescue, Touka's instinct is to kill Nishino because Nishino is a human who knows about ghouls. However, when Nishino compliments Touka's kagune, Touka spares her. This event demonstrates Touka's loyalty to her fellow ghouls and her willingness to show mercy when she feels respected. Her kagune is a significant part of her identity, as it is the feature that earns Nishino's compliment and ultimately saves Nishino's life.
