Story

The series takes place in an alternate universe parallel to that of the Saejimas, centered on Vol City, a metropolis built around a volcano infested by Horrors. Ryuga Dougai, a Makai Knight inheriting the title of Garo the Golden Knight, hunts them, but his armor has lost its golden radiance and power. He joins fellow Makai Knights Aguri and Takeru, and Makai Priests Burai and Rian, to confront the city's dark side plagued by Madō Horrors. Each time Ryuga destroys a Madō Horror, a portion of the Garo Armor's golden light is restored.

Songs

The opening theme for episodes 1–12 and 24 is 'Theme of Yami o Terasu Mono', composed by Yoshichika Kuriyama and Shiho Terada. For episodes 13–23, the opening is 'Isshokusokuhatsu ~Trigger of Crisis~', performed by JAM Project, with lyrics and composition by Hironobu Kageyama and arrangement by Kuriyama and Terada; in episode 24 it is used as the ending theme. Ending themes include 'So Long' (episodes 1–12, 22) and 'PLATONIC' (episodes 13–21, 23), with 'Brave Heart' used in episode 25. JAM Project, who performed theme songs for all previous franchise entries, also performs the series themes. Kageyama stated that the song he wrote moved him to tears.
