Visual/audial style

Unlike the rest of the Luxor series, this game uses a retro vector arcade style inspired by older arcade games, particularly Tempest. All graphics and effects are drawn with vector lines, colored phosphor-style and occasionally shaded with digital color. Secret levels reference nine arcade games: Asteroids, Pac-Man, Marble Madness, Berzerk, Tempest, Centipede, Dig Dug, Space Invaders, and Donkey Kong. A Qix appears on the pause menu, and beating the last boss triggers a simulated kill screen with a fake error message before the credits. The soundtrack consists of adaptive electronic loops, with each level number and secret stages having connected song sets split into three steps. Player performance determines which step is heard, with good gameplay adding more instrumentation. Each set includes win and lose tracks, all around thirty seconds long, except the shorter lose tracks. The start screen, bonus levels, and credits have exclusive non-step tracks.
