Gameplay

Destroy All Humans! Path of the Furon features over 30 story missions, 20 side quests, and multiplayer modes. Most story missions can be played in a non-linear order. Creative director Jon Knoles stated that the side quests are related to the story, creative, and epic, and that achievements are tied to statistic tracking, unique to weapons and abilities, encouraging experimentation. For example, removing the Sunny from the Sunnywood sign triggers a cutscene and a creative achievement. Challenges and mini-games can be replayed to improve scores and earn more rewards. The game includes five new open-world locations: Las Paradiso (based on Las Vegas), Sunnywood (Hollywood), Shen Long (Hong Kong), Belleville (Paris), and the 4th Ring of Furon (the Furon home planet). Split-screen offline multiplayer is available, with most challenges being player versus player, though one is co-op. Maps are scaled-down versions of single-player areas. Multiplayer modes include Ion Soccer, Brain-O-Matic, and Abductorama. There are no co-op single-player missions, and the story cannot be played cooperatively.

Plot

After Big Willy Unleashed, Cryptosporidium 138 (Crypto), voiced by J. Grant Albrecht, crashes his saucer into the Space Dust casino in Las Paradiso while drunk and dies. Orthopox 13 (Pox), voiced by Richard Horvitz, clones Crypto 139, and they take over the casino to maintain a flow of cash and human DNA. The local mob tries to gather information on them, but Crypto defeats the mob and takes control of the city. Crypto begins hearing an etheric voice calling him to enlightenment. Strange creatures called Nexosporidium warriors (Nexos), thought extinct, attack. Pox orders Crypto to destroy Paradiso to erase evidence, and they flee to Sunnywood. There, they suspect Curt Calvin, leader of the Lunarian Church of Alientology, is a Furon. Crypto stages an alien landing to draw Calvin out, but a Nexosporidium walker crushes Calvin, revealing he is human. After defeating the walker, Crypto is shot with a dart and faints. Crypto infiltrates the mansion of Francodyne CEO Henri Crousteau, who escapes. Crousteau plans to create a virus to destroy Furon DNA in humans. Crypto destroys the Nexo manufacturing operation and laboratory, but Crousteau creates the virus and sends four Nexo walkers to distribute it. Crypto destroys the walkers and defeats Crousteau at the Belleville tower. Crousteau reveals he wanted to stop pollution of the planet, fed Nexos synthetic DNA, and did not attack the casino; rogue Nexos responded to a signal from the Furon homeworld. Crypto realizes Emperor Meningitis (Nolan North) is responsible, and they head to the Fourth Ring of Furon to confront him.
