Multilingual titling
Audience choice of multiple language options in live and recorded performance.
Multilingual titling allows audiences in the performing arts to follow more than one linguistic option simultaneously. It emerged in audiovisual media with the DVD in 1996 and was introduced to live theatre in 1998 at Santa Fe Opera using custom individual displays. Later innovations included mobile-device systems and head-mounted displays.
