The Sopranos season 2

The second season of *The Sopranos* aired on HBO between January 16 and April 9, 2000, and was later released on VHS and DVD in region 1 on November 6, 2001. The season centers on Tony Soprano's increasing suspicion of his close friend Big Pussy Bonpensiero, who is secretly working as an FBI informant. Dr. Melfi continues her sessions with Tony, though she grows more disgusted by his behavior and questions the nature of their relationship. Tony’s sister Janice returns to New Jersey, and the already strained relationships with their mother Livia and each other persist. Meadow is accepted into college, and her personal life becomes entangled with Tony’s criminal world for the first time. Uncle Junior is sent back to prison for his crimes. Tony brings in a new enforcer from Italy, Furio, while Richie Aprile, the brother of former boss Jackie Aprile, is released from prison and creates problems for Tony and his business.

The main cast includes James Gandolfini as Tony Soprano, the de facto boss of the DiMeo crime family; Lorraine Bracco as Dr. Jennifer Melfi, Tony’s former therapist unsure about taking him back; Edie Falco as Carmela Soprano, who begins questioning her marriage; Michael Imperioli as Christopher Moltisanti, Tony’s cousin by marriage with an interest in screenwriting; Dominic Chianese as Corrado “Junior” Soprano, Tony’s uncle and the family’s nominal boss under house arrest; Vincent Pastore as Sal “Big Pussy” Bonpensiero, Tony’s best friend and a conflicted DiMeo soldier; Steven Van Zandt as Silvio Dante, the family’s loyal consigliere; Tony Sirico as Paul “Paulie Walnuts” Gualtieri, a short-tempered capo; Robert Iler as Anthony Soprano, Jr.; Jamie-Lynn Sigler as Meadow Soprano, who is exploring college options; Drea de Matteo as Adriana La Cerva, Chris’s girlfriend; David Proval as Richie Aprile, the late Jackie’s older brother who quickly reverts to his old ways after prison; Aida Turturro as Janice Soprano, Tony’s dramatic sister who moves in with their mother; and Nancy Marchand as Livia Soprano, Tony’s petulant mother with whom he is no longer speaking.
