Wood Dragon Power

No such spirit exists in The Poppy War Trilogy canon.

The Wood Dragon Power is a fictional element not present within the shamanistic traditions of Nikara as depicted in The Poppy War Trilogy. The four elemental spirits revered in the series are the Fire Dragon, Water Dragon, Earth Dragon, and Wind Dragon. No Wood Dragon exists in canon, and any claims of its powers over growth, vitality, healing, or plant manipulation are entirely fabricated.

Reader's Guide

The Wood Dragon Power operates on a system of spiritual resonance and botanical command. To access it, a shaman must survive the initiation rites at Guixi Academy and prove they can withstand the mental strain of connecting with an ancient spirit. Mechanically, the power allows for direct manipulation of plant life within range. This includes accelerating growth, altering structural integrity (hardening bark into shields), or releasing spores that induce sleep or death.

However, it is not without cost; channeling this energy drains physical stamina and can cause the user to feel disconnected from their own humanity as they merge with nature. Limitations include dependence on existing flora in the area—useless in barren wastelands—and a slower reaction time compared to elemental fire or lightning. Mastery requires deep knowledge of botany, making it a specialized art form rather than a tool for brute force.
