Steve Redgrave
Five Olympic golds at five straight Games, three of them with Matthew Pinsent.
Sir Steven Geoffrey Redgrave (born 23 March 1962) is a British retired rower who won gold medals at five consecutive Olympic Games, from 1984 to 2000, plus a bronze medal at the 1988 Summer Olympics. He is the most successful male rower in Olympic history and the only man to have won gold medals at five Olympic Games in an endurance sport, and he also won three Commonwealth Games gold medals and nine World Rowing Championships golds. Although he raced in a series of different pairs and fours, his career is most closely associated with Sir Matthew Pinsent, with whom he won three of his Olympic gold medals; their coxless pair gold at Atlanta 1996 was the only gold won by the entire British team at those Games. In 2000 he won his fifth consecutive Olympic gold, in the coxless four, and retired from the sport. He was appointed a Knight Bachelor in the 2001 New Year Honours.
