Music in Temerant
Lutes, harps and folk songs: the music that runs through Kvothe's story.
Music is an important part of the culture of Temerant, the world of The Kingkiller Chronicle, and its hero Kvothe is a wandering trouper and musician before he becomes a notorious arcanist. A variety of instruments are played, among them the lute, made in several versions through Temerant's history including the court lute and the trouper's lute, and the harp, from small lap harps to heavy floor-standing ones. Songs have great significance and are widely enjoyed, the most popular being simple folk melodies; with the exception of Ademre, music is enjoyed in every nation and serves as a principal source of entertainment. Notable musicians of the setting include Illien, Arliden, Kvothe, Denna and Dennais Threpe.
