Production

The eleventh season of American Dad! was the last produced for Fox before its cancellation. TBS announced in July 2013 that it had picked up the series for a twelfth season, having previously aired reruns of the show in syndication. Series co-creator Mike Barker stated about the network move, "It's going to be the same American Dad!, just in a different place." Barker departed the series over creative differences when early production for season 12 began in November 2013. He had contributed to the episode but was given story credit under the name Wayne Dublin.

Reception

The premiere on TBS drew 1.09 million viewers and earned mostly favorable reviews. Daniel Kurland from Den of Geek liked the switch from Fox, drawing comparisons to Futurama’s Comedy Central run and the American Dad! episodes “My Morning Straightjacket” and “Lost in Space.” He was caught off guard when Hayley dropped an uncensored “shit,” marking a first for any character in a network premiere. Kurland also felt it was a clear step up from the prior episode, which had been the show’s last on Fox a month earlier.
