April O'Neil

The reporter who traveled back in time to feudal Japan and stood with the Turtles against a warlord.

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, she buys gifts for the Turtles at a flea market, including an antique scepter that she gives to Splinter. The scepter later transports her to feudal Japan. There, she is imprisoned by the English trader Walker, who deduces she is not a witch and is powerless. The Turtles rescue her from Norinaga's castle, and she accompanies them to Mitsu's village, where she actively participates in the fight against Norinaga's forces, including using a bow and arrow.

Lore & Background

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, April's relationship with the Turtles is defined by mutual trust and family-like bonds. She gives each Turtle a thoughtful gift: Michelangelo a fedora hat, Donatello an old radio, Leonardo a book on swords, and Raphael an old lamp. She also gives Splinter the antique scepter from the flea market that triggers the time-swap. When April is transported to 1603 feudal Japan, she is imprisoned by Walker, who deduces she is not a witch and is powerless. April's role in this film is as a capable ally who contributes directly to the battle, not merely an observer.

Reader's Guide

In Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III, her primary role is as a human anchor for the Turtles, providing emotional support and continuity as they navigate the past. She does not engage in combat in this film; instead, she is rescued by the Turtles from imprisonment in Norinaga's castle. Her defining moments include giving Splinter the ancient Japanese scepter that triggers the time-swap, being transported to feudal Japan, being imprisoned by Walker, and being rescued by the Turtles. She accompanies the Turtles to Mitsu's village and witnesses them help the villagers fight against Norinaga's forces. April represents the idea that ordinary people can become extraordinary through courage and loyalty, even if they are not directly involved in combat.
