Career
Artbat came together in 2014 when Kryvenko and Lamarenko, both already working as DJs, met at a club in Ukraine. They quickly found they had similar tastes in music and began making tracks together. Only three months later, they broke through with "Mandrake." The British DJ Richie Hawtin gave the track major support, playing it in every one of his sets for a full year. In 2017, their song "Uplift" landed on a compilation put out by Solomun's label Diynamic, and they went on to release more EPs and tracks there. Their 2018 single "Taboo" hit number one on Beatport's deep house chart and held that spot for eleven weeks. In 2019, they won a DJ Award in the Breakthrough category, and that same year they were Beatport's top-selling artist. They were also named Mixmag's Stars of the Year and Beatport's Best Sellers. In 2021, Artbat started their own label, Upperground, with the release of their single "Flame." The label has put on large events featuring its core artists along with names like Armin van Buuren, Benny Benassi, CamelPhat, Miss Monique, MORTEN, and Vintage Culture. On November 11, 2023, they recorded their first Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1. In May 2024, their official remix of The Chemical Brothers' "Hey Boy Hey Girl" came out on Virgin/Positiva. That same month, they played a historic show at Real Madrid's Santiago Bernabéu Stadium in front of 8,000 people. In 2025, they made their first appearance on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list, entering at number 73. They have performed at major festivals including Coachella, Creamfields, Ultra Miami and Japan, EDC, Awakenings, Tomorrowland, Mysteryland, EXIT Festival, DGTL, and Time Warp.
