Nicholas Angell
American defenseman with power-play slapshot and physical style.
Nicholas 'Nick' Angell (born October 31, 1979) is an American professional ice hockey player currently with VIK Västerås HK of the Swedish HockeyAllsvenskan. He is an offensive defenseman known for joining the rush and acting as a fourth forward, with a hard and accurate slapshot used on the power play.

Early career
Angell began playing in Duluth youth leagues and later at Duluth East High School. In his senior year, he led the Duluth East Greyhounds to win the 1998 Minnesota High School Boys Hockey tournament and was nominated for the Mr. Hockey award. He then played for the University of Minnesota from 1998 to 2002, helping the team win the 2002 NCAA Men's Ice Hockey Championship.
Professional career
Angell turned professional in 2002–03, playing for the Milwaukee Admirals in the AHL and the Rockford Icehogs in the IHL, totaling 16 points in 73 games. The next season he signed with IFK Arboga in the Swedish tier two league. He played for the Frisk Tigers in the Norwegian Elite League in 2004–05, then returned to the Swedish tier two league with Bofors IK for 2005–06. In 2006 he signed with Brynäs IF of the Swedish Elite League, playing two seasons. In 2007 he was selected for Team USA in the Deutschland Cup, where the United States finished second after a 3-2 overtime shootout loss to Switzerland. In 2008 he signed a one-year contract with HV71, the 2007–08 Swedish Elite League champions, after playing a few games for the Tampere Battle Axe in Finland; he joined HV71 for 2008–09 after briefly playing with the Stavanger Oilers in Norway. After five seasons in Sweden, he moved to Germany for 2009–10 with the Frankfurt Lions. In 2010 he signed with Metallurg Novokuznetsk of the KHL, becoming the first American captain of a Russian professional team; with 18 points in 51 games he was the club's top-scoring defenseman. He was traded to Avangard Omsk on January 31, 2011. He returned to the Deutsche Eishockey Liga for 2011–12 with Eisbären Berlin. After retiring for one year, he returned to Sweden with Karlskrona Hockey Klub in the Allsvenskan and currently plays for Västerås IK.
