Rämö began his professional career in the SM-Liiga with the Lahti Pelicans and later HPK, where he won the Kanada-malja championship in 2005–06. After signing a two-way contract with Tampa Bay, he played in the AHL with the Norfolk Admirals before making his NHL debut on 2 December 2007. He recorded 7 wins and 11 losses in the 2007–08 season and 4 wins in 24 games the following season. With the Lightning signing Olaf Kölzig as backup, Rämö was returned to Norfolk multiple times before signing a two-year contract with Avangard Omsk of the KHL in 2009. His NHL rights were traded to the Montreal Canadiens in 2010. In the KHL, he was twice selected to the All-Star Game, though he missed one due to injury. He returned to the NHL with the Calgary Flames in 2013, replacing Miikka Kiprusoff as starter, and played 111 games over three seasons. After a knee injury ended his 2015–16 season, he signed a PTO with the AHL's Toronto Marlies but was released after three winless games. He later returned to Avangard Omsk but missed the entire 2018–19 season due to injury, then played for Djurgårdens IF in the SHL and ERC Ingolstadt in Germany.
