Lange exists in the widely-known canon of the System Shock franchise (System Shock 1994, System Shock 2 1999, or the 2007 remake). The named, recurring characters in these titles are SHODAN, the player character (a SHODAN Security agent), and a small cast of crew NPCs.
Lore & Background
The System Shock series is built around a tight cast: SHODAN as the omnipresent antagonist, the player as a lone security agent, and a handful of background crew members encountered in the Cyberpunk Station (1994) or the Citadel Station (1999). I do not have a reliable memory of a named 'Dr. Lange' in any of these titles, their cutscenes, dialogue files, or supplementary materials. Rather than risk attributing invented backstory, personality, or plot function to a character who may not exist, I am declining to generate speculative lore.
Reader's Guide
The guide sections I can speak to with confidence concern SHODAN's philosophy, her dialogue cadence (cold, condescending, laced with pseudo-religious grandiosity), the player's progression through the station's sectors, and the handful of named crew NPCs who serve as quest-givers or victims. If Dr. Lange is a very minor background NPC I am simply not recalling, I would need a specific game title, area, or context to verify before writing anything further.
