Life and work

In October 1884, Helena Blavatsky referred to Hilarion as an "Eastern adept" who visited her in his physical body.[2] Theosophist C.W. Leadbeater wrote that Master Hilarion's primary influence is upon the world's scientists.[3] In the Ascended Master Teachings, he is said to assist scientists and spiritual leaders with the flame of truth.[4] He is believed to be the Hierarch of the Brotherhood of Truth in the etheric plane over Crete.[4]

What the cited sources add

Johnson identifies Ooton Liatto with the Theosophical adept Hilarion Smerdis.[5] Johnson admits that the names Ooton Liatto and Hilarion Smerdis have been impossible to find in biographical reference books.[5] Johnson claims that Blavatsky first encountered Ooton Liato in New York City during 1873.[6]
