Tsuyuharai

Lower-ranked attendant who precedes a yokozuna in his ring entrance ceremony.

The tsuyuharai is one of two attendants who accompany a yokozuna during his ring entrance ceremony, the dohyō-iri. The tsuyuharai precedes the yokozuna into the ring, squats on his left side during the ceremony, and then precedes him out again. This attendant must be a makuuchi-ranked wrestler, ideally from the same stable as the yokozuna, and is always the lower-ranked of the two attendants.
