Grassy Plateaus
A sunlit underwater meadow where survival begins and gentle currents hide subtle perils.
The Grassy Plateaus are a shallow, sun-drenched biome on Planet 4546B, characterized by dense fields of aquatic flora that sway in the currents. This vibrant area serves as a sanctuary for crash survivors, offering a place to gather essential resources and learn basic survival skills before venturing into deeper, more hostile regions. The biome's shallow depths and mild temperatures create a seemingly peaceful environment, though its gentle currents can conceal subtle perils for the unwary.
Lore & Background
Despite its peaceful appearance, the Plateaus are not entirely devoid of danger. The dense vegetation provides ample cover for predators like the Stalkers that hunt in the shadows, while the deeper edges of the biome transition into darker waters where larger threats lurk. For the native fauna, this region is a bustling hub of activity, with schools of fish darting through the kelp and jellyfish drifting lazily near the surface, oblivious to the alien intruder exploring their home.
Reader's Guide
The Grassy Plateaus occupy the shallowest depths of the ocean, ranging from sea level down to approximately 50 meters. Temperatures remain relatively mild here, making it one of the few areas where a player can survive without immediate thermal protection. Key resources include Sulfur and Copper Ore found in scattered rock deposits, alongside essential flora like Kelp and Leafy Stalks for food and crafting. While generally safe, players should watch out for Jellyfish which can cause minor damage if touched repeatedly, and be cautious of the deeper edges where Stalkers may ambush from the tall grass. Notable points of interest include the Crash Site of the Aurora, which sits on the edge of this biome, and several small caves that offer shelter or lead to slightly deeper zones. This area is ideal for establishing a first base due to its accessibility and resource density.
