Lego senior model designer Justin Ramsden worked closely with Netflix to design The Upside Down set, receiving behind-the-scenes images and plans. Three new elements were created for the set: headgear for the Demogorgon, a hair piece for Dustin, and hair for Will. The design process began with a concept sketch by an elite team of Lego designers, followed by close dialogue with Netflix and iterations to improve stability, playability, and functions.

The theme launched in 2019 at The Lego Store in Flatiron District, New York, and later at Lego Store Leicester Square, London. The Upside Down set (75810) was based on a version of the Byers' home and consisted of 2287 pieces with 8 minifigures. The Byers' house included a front porch, living room, dining room, and Will's bedroom, along with Chief Jim Hopper's police truck and accessories. The set was designed primarily for adults with an age rating of 16+.

In February 2022, a Demogorgon minifigure Keyring was released and retired in August 2022. On January 1, 2026, Lego released The Creel House (set number 11370) with 2593 pieces and 13 exclusive minifigures, including Vecna, Eleven, Max, Mike, Lucas, Will, Dustin, Robin, Steve, Jonathan, Nancy, Holly, and Mr. Whatsit. The set featured two vehicles and a hidden mechanism that splits the build to reveal Vecna's interdimensional mind world. A gift-with-purchase, the WSQK Radio Station, included Joyce Byers and Jim Hopper minifigures.
