Ikoma and Mumei: A Bond Forged in Blood

Ikoma is a gifted young steamsmith at Aragane Station who, alongside his close friend Takumi, engineered a bolt-gun-like weapon called the Piercing Gun capable of shattering the iron cage guarding a Kabane's heart. During the station's invasion, he successfully fires the weapon and kills a Kabane, but is bitten in the process. By blocking his own carotid arteries, he prevents the virus from reaching his brain and transforms into a Kabaneri—a human-Kabane hybrid. This metamorphosis grants him extraordinary strength and endurance, allowing him to shrug off gunfire and survive multiple Kabane bites.
