Stellar properties
HD 6434 is a G-type main-sequence star with a classification of G2/G3V. It is an ancient population II star, estimated at 12 billion years old, and is among the most metal-deficient stars known to host a planet. The star rotates slowly, with a projected rotational velocity of 2.2 km/s. It has 88% of the Sun's mass but nearly the same size, radiating 1.2 solar luminosities from a photosphere at 5,907 K. Enrichment in barium suggests a possible white dwarf companion that was formerly an asymptotic giant branch star, though no white dwarf has been detected by Gaia; a slight radial velocity trend hints at an additional companion beyond the known planet.
