G3V star with a hot Jupiter and a thick-disk origin.
WASP-21, also named Tangra, is a G-type star (G3V) nearing the end of its main sequence lifetime, located about 834 light-years away in Pegasus. It is metal-poor, with 40% of the Sun's heavy elements, and belongs to the Milky Way's thick disk. The star hosts a hot Jupiter exoplanet, WASP-21b, discovered in 2010.
