Nomenclature

Eta Capricorni, also known by the Bayer designation η Capricorni or the Flamsteed number 22 Capricorni, is a star system. In Chinese astronomy, it belongs to the asterism Twelve States, which includes sixteen stars such as φ Capricorni and ι Capricorni, representing ancient states from the Spring and Autumn and Warring States periods. The Chinese name for η Capricorni itself, along with 21 Capricorni and β Serpentis, is linked to the Zhou dynasty, located in the Right Wall of the Heavenly Market Enclosure asterism. In astrological contexts, this star is occasionally called Armus.
