Differences from the film

When Leia is captured by Jabba, his response to her warning about powerful friends is, "I'm sure, but in the meantime, I shall thoroughly enjoy the pleasure of your company," and he plants "a beastly kiss squarely on the Princess's lips" rather than simply licking his lips. On the cover art, Luke's lightsaber laser is blue, whereas in the film it is green. Obi-Wan Kenobi's account of Luke's parentage is expanded: he states that Owen Lars was his own brother, that Luke and Leia's mother died when they were four, and that Anakin "fell into a molten pit" during their battle; he also says Anakin did not know their mother was pregnant. C-3PO's story alone does not convince the Ewoks to help the Rebels; Han tries and fails, and it is Wicket who persuades the tribal elders. C-3PO is described with a "wobbly, amazed smile" after being levitated, inconsistent with his immotile face. The Emperor's initial conversation with Luke is expanded, including Palpatine mocking Yoda by mimicking his object–subject–verb speech. Ewoks Paploo and Teebo perform actions assigned to other Ewoks in the film: they argue over the captured Rebels, Teebo commands the Ewok army, and they assist Chewbacca in hijacking the AT-ST instead of Widdle and Wunka; they are not part of the party that captures the Rebels. The space battle above Endor is given an expanded treatment, describing a much larger Rebel fleet than seen on film.
