Destruction is one of three powers created to fight the 4D Beings in Star Ocean: Till the End of Time, alongside Alteration and Connection. As the name says, it destroys whatever it is aimed at, both inside the Eternal Sphere and in Fourth-Dimensional Space; it can also change the universe's physical laws, which lets the party use their spells and battle skills in 4D space.

Background
Dr. Robert Leingod chose his own son, Fayt, to receive the Destruction gene. The procedure worked, but Fayt was never told about the power and was raised as an ordinary boy.
Destruction is a story element rather than a separate ability you equip; it explains Fayt's role in the plot of Till the End of Time.
The power first stirs on Vanguard III, when Norton's taunts make it flare and confuse the Rezerbian, before Cliff walks in and it fades again. On Elicoor II, when a Vendeeni cruiser attacks, it awakens fully: a beam of light from Fayt destroys the cruiser and knocks him out, and he wakes in Castle Aquaria with no memory of it. Maria later explains Robert's research to him and shows him her own power, Alteration.
