The Housekeeper

Lore & Background

Her interaction with Seong Gi-hun marks a pivotal moment in his journey to dismantle the games. When Gi-hun infiltrates the home seeking answers, she recognizes the danger he faces. Despite her loyalty to the organization's protocols, she displays a flicker of humanity by warning him not to stay. This act suggests that even within the system, some staff members retain moral agency or fear for their own safety amidst the organization's brutal enforcement.

Reader's Guide

The Housekeeper represents the domestic tier of support staff within the Squid Game organization's hierarchy. While guards and workers manage the physical execution of the games, this role ensures the comfort and secrecy of the upper management.

Her primary goal is to maintain the sanctity of the Old Man's residence, shielding it from external interference. She operates under strict confidentiality agreements implied by her proximity to leadership. Her presence indicates that the organization extends beyond the island facility into private real estate holdings.

In terms of conflict, she serves as a bridge between the hidden masters and intruders like Gi-hun. Though not armed or combat-trained, her knowledge makes her a potential threat if exposed. Ultimately, her role highlights the human cost of maintaining such a secretive operation, where even caretakers are bound by silence.
