Octo Expansion is a 2018 single-player expansion for Splatoon 2, released on June 13, 2018. Set in an underground transit system, the Deepsea Metro, it follows the amnesiac Octoling Agent 8, who must clear the Metro's test facilities to escape to the surface.

Background
Its 80 challenges were designed to be more varied and harder than Splatoon 2's main campaign, and its look drew on 1980s pop culture. The villain is Commander Tartar, an AI built by a human scientist to pass on humanity's knowledge, who instead decides to wipe out life and create a new species. Reviewers praised its level design and story, many rating it above Splatoon 2's main campaign, and much of its cast returns in Splatoon 3's Side Order.
