Phlebiac Brothers

Background

The Phlebiac brothers are five powerful demons who serve Malebolgia and are sometimes called the true denizens of Hell. According to Violator, the eldest, they were born to human mothers but fathered by a full-blooded demon from Hell, as part of a project by John Dee. Violator claims he later killed their father. All five brothers possess inhuman strength, invulnerability, and abilities including telepathy, regeneration, possession, and shapeshifting.

Violator, also called The Clown, is the most prominent brother in the comics. He has blue-gray skin, a slender frame, large red compound eyes, two horns on the sides of his face, and one large horn on his back. Malebolgia sent him to Earth to train the newly reborn Al Simmons, but Violator quickly resented this role, believing himself superior to all Hellspawn. He later claimed to have designed the suits and powers for every Hellspawn after the first. He serves as Spawn's archnemesis.

Vindicator appears second most often. He has green-gray skin, a slender frame, large red eyes with prominent eyebrows, and a large horn on his back. He works as a taskmaster, subjugating newly arrived souls in the Eighth Circle of Hell. Vandalizer is the most dominant brother and often leads the group. He has brown-gray skin, small yellow eyes, a more muscular build than his siblings, two small horns on the sides of his face, and a large horn on his back. Vaporizer is the largest brother, with a much bigger frame than the others, though not as muscular as Vandalizer. He has lavender-gray skin, a spider-like face with six green eyes (three on each side), an intimidating mouth, two large horns on each side of his face, and two more on his back. Vacillator is the smallest and weakest brother. He looks very similar to Vindicator but is much smaller and has a pink, segmented eye. As his name suggests, he can be extremely indecisive.

Additionally, Dakota is Violator's daughter, first appearing in Gunslinger Spawn #3. Viscerator is Violator's sister, debuting in Scorched 24, and becomes the Scorched's archenemy.
