Jason Wynn
Corrupt director who traded a soldier's soul for hellish power.
Jason Broderick Wynn, the corrupt head of the United States Security Group, is a major villain in the Spawn comics. His black market dealings and alliances with the Mafia and Chinese triads give him immense power, with many politicians under his control. Fictional character biography
Jason Wynn runs the United States Security Group, a super-agency that combines the CIA, NSA, and National Security Council. His subordinate, Simmons, grew troubled after being ordered to carry out numerous bloody missions and atrocities with increasingly flimsy justifications. Wynn, a master controller, could not tolerate Simmons asking difficult questions. During a mission, Wynn arranged for Simmons’ own partner, Chapel, to ambush him and burn him alive. When Simmons returned as the vengeful Spawn, Wynn repeatedly managed to slip away.
Wynn expands his influence through cold, calculating Machiavellian schemes. He supplies weapons to rebel armies across the globe, often pitting two factions against each other so the victor owes him. He is utterly ruthless. Wynn struck a deal with the demon Malebolgia, trading the soul of his best soldier, Simmons, for psychoplasm—a supernatural substance that is the very essence of Hell. Wynn combined this sample with Simmons’ memories to create “Simmonsville,” a training ground that was a small piece of Hell on Earth, run by the U.S. government. Spawn destroyed Simmonsville during Wynn’s brief time as the Anti-Spawn, also called Redeemer I. Because Wynn was corrupted by evil, he could not reach his full potential as the Redeemer and was defeated. His memory was then wiped, and he was returned to Earth two days after vanishing. Afterwards, Wynn periodically worked with The Clown, Malebolgia’s henchman, to try to kill Spawn a second time.
When the demon Mammon restored The Clown to existence on Earth and allowed him to take a new body, The Clown chose Wynn and took over his psyche. The Clown appeared as a hallucination, which helped Wynn pull himself together enough to return to the NSA. In his spare time, Wynn went on a killing spree, brutally murdering women who resembled Wanda Blake. He was caught in the act at a construction site, still wearing The Clown’s face paint. Spawn beat him and saved the woman. The Clown then made his final move for Wynn’s body: by stepping on Wynn’s hands, he made him let go of a steel girder, sending him falling to his apparent death. The Clown then fully possessed Wynn’s body.

Jason Wynn is a major villain in the Spawn animated series, with John Rafter Lee providing his voice. In the 1997 Spawn movie, Martin Sheen plays him as a secondary antagonist. That version runs an agency called A6 and is Al Simmons's boss. Unlike in the comics, this Wynn personally betrays and kills Simmons with help from Jessica Priest, instead of just ordering the hit. After Simmons returns and attacks, killing Priest, the Violator talks Wynn into getting a device implanted in his heart. This device is set to release a chemical weapon called Heat 16 across the globe if Wynn's heart stops, meant to protect him from assassination. But the Violator and Malebolgia actually want Simmons to kill Wynn for revenge, which would start the apocalypse. Wynn then heads to the Fitzgerald home. Terry Fitzgerald sends an email to reporters exposing Wynn's crimes, and then Cyan and Wynn enter the room. Wynn shoots Terry's computer monitor and takes the family hostage just as the Violator shows up. Spawn arrives and almost kills Wynn, who cowardly admits that Cyan will die if he does. Al uses magic to pull the device from Wynn's body and destroys it. After the Violator is beaten, two detectives who look like Sam and Twitch arrest Wynn.
Jason Wynn also appears as a villain in several Spawn video games, such as Spawn: Armageddon, Todd McFarlane's Spawn: The Video Game, Spawn: The Eternal, and Spawn: In the Demon's Hand. He gets a mention in Mortal Kombat 11, where Sonya Blade tells Spawn that Wynn is now an enemy of the U.S. government after learning Spawn's real identity. Like many Spawn characters, Jason Wynn has been turned into multiple action figures.
