Xavier Artigas López, born 27 May 2003, is a Spanish motorcycle racer currently competing for MTM Kawasaki in the 2026 Sportbike World Championship. His past rides include the Forward Racing factory team in the 2024 Moto2 World Championship, plus Leopard Racing and Prüstel GP in Moto3 from 2021 to 2023.
Career
Artigas first caught attention in the 2018 Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup, where he won one race, finished second three times, and placed third once, ending the season third in the standings behind Turkish twins Can Öncü and Deniz Öncü. That same year he became the 2018 European Talent Cup champion despite not winning any race in that series. He moved up to the Moto3 Junior World Championship for 2019, securing one race win, one second place, and two third-place podiums, again finishing third in the standings.
He made a wildcard appearance in the final Moto3 race of 2019 at Valencia and scored a third-place finish. Artigas remained in the Junior World Championship for 2020, where he improved markedly: across 11 races he finished on the top two steps of the podium eight times, with two wins and six runner-up results, ending the season second in the standings. This earned him a seat with Leopard Racing for the 2021 Moto3 World Championship. His rookie Moto3 season began with three consecutive retirements while teammate Dennis Foggia regularly ran at the front.
Artigas gradually collected regular point finishes and won the season finale at Valencia after Dennis Foggia and Pedro Acosta made contact on the last lap. He finished the year with 72 points, 15th in the standings, and was not retained by Leopard Racing. For 2022 he rode for Prüstel GP alongside Carlos Tatay. Artigas joined Forward Racing for the 2024 season.
He officially signed with the Preicanos Racing Team for the 2025 FIM Moto2 European Championship, but the contract fell through when the Preicanos team disbanded without clarity. He was then appointed as a test rider for Bimota during the 2025 WorldSBK season as the factory developed its new KB998 bike.
