Vampires of Geon is a Soviet and Russian animated film from 1991 to 1992, based on Gennady Tishchenko's story 'The Vampire of Gaynomius' (1977). It is the first part of the unfinished space opera animated saga under the working title Star World, followed by Masters of Geon and AMBA. The film explores the difficulty of mastering other planets and the complexity of contact with alien inhabitants.

Plot
The Cosmosecological Commission (KEK) sends inspector Yanina to the distant planet Geon to investigate why native vampires attack a research expedition of the Concern Galax, which plans to colonize the planet for its mineral resources. Yanina becomes a victim of the vampires, but his American colleagues, resembling Schwarzenegger and Stallone, help him. They propose luring the vampires with a signal and shooting them. Yanin allows an experiment at minimum signal power, and together they fight the vampires. Later, Yanin scouts for another solution, is attacked again, but recovers from the vampire disease due to prolonged air exposure. He meets a rational race that explains vampires produce food for them and are vital to the ecosystem. Yanin stops the experiment, and the human base is closed.
