Synopsis
Yong Tae-mu kills his lost cousin in the United States and returns to Korea, claiming his cousin Yong Tae-yong could not be found in New York City. Tae-mu has been having a secret affair with his secretary Hong Se-na, who runs into her long-lost stepsister Park-ha. Park-ha had been missing after Se-na abandoned her in a truck when she was nine. Two years after Tae-yong's disappearance, four men in Joseon-era garments fall onto Park-ha's rooftop house. Their leader Lee-gak claims to be the Crown Prince of Joseon, accompanied by scholar Song Man-bo, bodyguard Woo Yong-sool, and eunuch Do Chi-san. Lee Gak sees Se-na, who is the spitting image of his beloved wife found drowned in the 18th century, and believes she is his wife's reincarnation. Yeo, a wealthy company president, mistakes Lee Gak for her grandson Yong Tae-yong due to their identical appearance. Lee Gak realizes he has time traveled 300 years to 2012 Seoul to investigate the Crown Princess's death. To approach Se-na, who works as Yeo's personal assistant, Lee Gak pretends to be Tae-yong. Tae-mu, believing he already killed his cousin in New York, fears his act being discovered. Park-ha is shocked to learn her friend is the CEO's grandson, and her feelings for Lee Gak blossom, but she is hurt when he courts Se-na, believing marrying her will solve the murder mystery.
Cast
Park Yoo-chun portrays Crown Prince Lee Gak and Yong Tae-yong, with Choi Won-hong as young Lee Gak. Lee Gak is the Joseon Crown Prince who is intelligent, kind, wise, and cautious, though somewhat pompous. He time travels 300 years into the future and impersonates Tae-yong after Tae-mu pushed him into the sea. Han Ji-min plays Park-ha and Hong Bu-yong, with Jeon Min-seo as the young versions. Park-ha is strong, resilient, and optimistic, having endured hardships since being separated from her family at age nine. Her Joseon counterpart Bu-yong is shy, elegant, and smart, with a scar on her cheek from a burn. Jeong Yu-mi plays Hong Se-na and Hong Hwa-yong, with Kim So-hyun as the young versions. Se-na is Park-ha's older stepsister, ambitious and scheming, who works as a secretary and resents Park-ha. As Hwa-yong, she is Lee Gak's wife and Bu-yong's older sister. Lee Tae-sung plays Yong Tae-mu and Prince Muchang.
Production
Before the script reading, the lead actors had to do a camera test while wearing traditional clothing. The first script reading happened on February 1, 2012, at the SBS Ilsan Production Center.
