History

AlphaBAT originally debuted in 2012 as a duo (Kyumin and Selin) under YUB Entertainment. After leaving that agency, Kyumin left the group. Selin, now using the stage name I:ota, continued as a member when the group expanded from a duo to nine members under Simtong Entertainment. Their first performance for AB City took place on November 12, 2013, on the music program Arirang: Simply Kpop, but Simtong Entertainment's preferred official debut date was November 14, 2013, when they performed on M! Countdown. The music video and song AB CITY were released on March 15. A second Christmas-themed digital single, Surprise Party, revealed the official fandom name: Alpha. In late February 2014, they released their first mini-album, Attention, preceded by the single Always as a gift to fans. The full music video for the title track Ttanttara (딴따라) was released on the 25th. They returned on August 22, 2014, with their second mini-album, Answer. On November 1, 2016, AlphaBAT Japan's official Twitter announced that the group had switched from Simtong Entertainment to Japanese label Jakol Corporation, along with the unofficial departure of members C:ode, D:elta, F:ie, I:ota, and youngest member J:eta, who enlisted on November 9. They promoted as five members, including new member K:appa, revealed on November 3. A Japanese comeback special was held on December 2, with activities involving B:eta, E:psilon, G:amma, H:eta, and K:appa, though promotions proceeded without B:eta due to his enlistment. On May 23, 2017, AlphaBAT opened a new official Instagram account, indicating a restart of activities. They appeared on Naver's Vapp channel Idol x Idol on June 8, 2017. On July 25, 2017, member H:eta announced his enlistment via Instagram, leaving the group with four members. On July 28, 2017, they released the EP Get Your Luv, with a small showcase. The music video for the title track, also called Get Your Luv, and its dance practice were released on August 7, 2017.
