Development

In December 2020, Thiagarajan announced Santhosh Narayanan as composer for the score and soundtrack. Thiagarajan sought someone who could match Amit Trivedi's work for Andhadhun and considered Santhosh a perfect fit due to his versatility and orchestral music usage. He was impressed by Santhosh's re-recording for Cuckoo, Jigarthanda, Kabali and Kaala. Thiagarajan wanted a musical treatment completely different from the original. Santhosh composed "En Kadhal" first, with Prashanth playing keyboard. The film also included "Chandirane Sooriyane", composed by Adithyan for the 1992 film Amaran. Sony Music India acquired the audio rights.

Release

The soundtrack's rollout began with "En Kadhal" on 7 March 2022, followed by "Yosichi Yosichi" on 27 May and "Kannile" on 23 June 2023. Sony Music India released the full album on 9 July 2023. Actor Vijay put out a promotional track, "The Andhagan Anthem," on 24 July 2024, with vocals by Anirudh Ravichander and Vijay Sethupathi and choreography by Prabhu Deva. Prashanth mentioned that Vijay agreed to release it after just one phone call.

Reception

Latha Srinivasan of Hindustan Times wrote that Santhosh Narayanan's songs in Andhagan were terrible, calling them tacky and unexpected from the composer of Kalki 2898 AD. Gopinath Rajendran of The Hindu wrote that while the film's songs do not stay in memory, the piano compositions stand apart.
