Marvel's Spider-Man is a series of superhero action-adventure video games, a media franchise, and a shared universe. Insomniac Games developed the series, and Sony Interactive Entertainment published it for PlayStation consoles and Windows. The games draw from characters in Marvel Comics publications, taking inspiration from the long-running comic book lore as well as various other media adaptations. The main protagonists are Peter Parker and Miles Morales, who fight crime in New York City as dual holders of the Spider-Man identity while managing the challenges of their personal lives.
Marvel Games began talks with Sony Interactive Entertainment about developing third-party games based on Marvel characters. This led to Insomniac Games, a frequent collaborator, being chosen to take over the Spider-Man license from Activision in 2014. The series launched with *Marvel's Spider-Man* and its downloadable content expansion *The City That Never Sleeps*, released on PlayStation 4 in late 2018. A remastered version combining the game and its DLC came out for PlayStation 5 in November 2020 and Windows in August 2022. A direct spin-off, *Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales*, arrived on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 in November 2020 alongside the remaster, with a Windows port in November 2022. The sequel, *Marvel's Spider-Man 2*, was released for PlayStation 5 in October 2023 and Windows in January 2025. A third entry, *Marvel's Spider-Man 3*, is currently in development.
The series exists in a shared universe similar to the Marvel Comics multiverse, supported by other standalone Insomniac games that share continuity. *Marvel's Wolverine*, focused on the titular character, released for PlayStation 5 in September 2026. A standalone Venom game, following his appearance in *Marvel's Spider-Man 2*, is in development. A game centered on the X-Men team is also planned.
