Patrick Fischer
Swiss ice hockey coach and former NHL forward.
Patrick Fischer is a Swiss ice hockey coach and former professional forward who played briefly in the NHL with the Arizona Coyotes. He spent most of his playing career in Switzerland's National League A and later served as head coach of the Swiss national team from 2016 to 2026.

Playing career
Fischer debuted professionally with EV Zug in the Swiss NLA during 1992–93. He moved to HC Lugano in 1997 and won the Swiss championship in 1999. After two seasons there, he joined HC Davos, winning another Swiss title in 2002 and the Spengler Cup in 2000. He returned to EV Zug in 2003. In 2006–07 he played for the Arizona Coyotes, appearing in his first NHL game on October 5, 2006, and totaling 27 games. He began the 2007–08 campaign with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL before going back to Zug. He retired on May 8, 2009. His jersey number 21 was retired by EV Zug, and he was inducted into the club's Wall of Fame. Fischer earned 183 caps for Switzerland and competed in the 2002 and 2006 Olympics and several World Championships.
Coaching career
Fischer began coaching in HC Lugano's youth system and became assistant coach of the NLA team in 2010. He served as interim head coach in October 2011 after Barry Smith was dismissed. He was named Lugano head coach in 2013 and was let go in October 2015. As an assistant to Sean Simpson, he helped Switzerland win silver at the 2013 World Championships and also worked at the 2014 Worlds. He became head coach of the Swiss national team in December 2015 and was dismissed in April 2026.
