Creator of Chowder, Harvey Beaks, and Jellystone!
Carl Harvey Greenblatt (born 1972), who works under the name C.H. Greenblatt, is an American animator, television writer, and voice actor. He created the Cartoon Network series *Chowder*, the Nickelodeon show *Harvey Beaks*, and served as creator, developer, and executive producer of *Jellystone!*, an HBO Max animated series built around Hanna-Barbera characters. His résumé also includes contributions to *SpongeBob SquarePants* (Nickelodeon), *The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy* and *Evil Con Carne* (Cartoon Network), and *Fish Hooks* (Disney).
Greenblatt grew up in Plano, Texas, where he was a cartoon fan and made his own comics, including one called *Zibbler*. In high school, he took a commercial program in technical art and graphic design. He later majored in advertising at the University of Texas at Austin, where he also worked as a cartoonist for the school newspaper alongside Korey Coleman.
While still a student, Greenblatt sent comic strips to syndicates and *Ad Age* magazine. After graduating, he worked as an art director on TV commercials, including the Chef Boyardee Chef Jr. campaign. Spotting a Nickelodeon ad in *Animation Magazine*, he sent his portfolio and was hired as a character designer. In 1998, he became an additional storyboard artist for *SpongeBob SquarePants*, eventually moving into writing and full storyboarding. During seasons 2 and 3, he teamed up with Aaron Springer, and later in season 3 with Kaz. After leaving *SpongeBob* in 2005, he worked as a storyboard artist on *The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy* and its sister series, which had previously been combined as *Grim & Evil* from 2001 to 2003.
In 2007, Greenblatt created and executive produced *Chowder* for Cartoon Network. He also collaborated with Maxwell Atoms on the *Billy & Mandy* Halloween special *Underfist*, reprising his role as Fred Fredburger. He announced on his blog that Nickelodeon had greenlit an 11-minute pilot for a new show, initially called *Bad Seeds* and later renamed *Harvey Beaks*. In September 2013, the show was picked up for 26 11-minute episodes, with production starting in early 2014. He also directed the *Deadman* shorts for DC Nation.
In April 2018, Greenblatt announced he had joined Warner Bros. Animation and was developing a project he couldn't yet discuss. That project was revealed in October 2019 as *Jellystone!*, a crossover series featu
