Facts from the source article.
Format
Sarah Harris hosted this series, where multimillionaire investors known as Sharks evaluated pitches from entrepreneurs seeking funding. A deal could be struck if at least one Shark was interested; otherwise, contestants received nothing. A 2018 Fairfax Media investigation found that of fifty pitches in the 2017 season, twenty-seven deals were proposed, but only four were finalized. The Sharks were paid for appearing but used their own money for investments.
History
Shark Tank was the second Australian series based on the format; a previous adaptation, Dragons' Den, aired on the Seven Network in 2005. A third season began airing on 20 June 2017. In March 2023, the series was announced to return later that year with a new panel, produced by Curio Pictures. The fifth season premiered on 29 August 2023, and a sixth season premiered on 16 October 2024.
