Fernando Alonso's first win; a bad day for Ferrari at the Hungaroring.
The 2003 Hungarian Grand Prix was held at the Hungaroring on 24 August 2003, round 13 of the season. Renault's Fernando Alonso won from pole, his first Grand Prix win, which made him the youngest winner in the sport at the time and the first from Spain.

Background
It was a race to forget for Ferrari. On lap 19 Rubens Barrichello's left rear suspension failed and the wheel came off, sending him into the wall at the first-corner hairpin. Michael Schumacher, the reigning champion and points leader, was lapped by Alonso and took a single point in eighth. Team manager Jean Todt called the result disappointing, Ferrari then complained about the width of the Michelin front tyres its rivals used, and Williams moved eight points clear of Ferrari in the constructors' standings. The race was the first on the revised Hungaroring layout, with a longer main straight and a tighter first hairpin.
