Cast

Darrell Hammond, the last cast member from the 1990s, left the show after 14 seasons, a record later surpassed by Kenan Thompson. Michaela Watkins and Casey Wilson were let go after the previous season; Watkins had served one season, Wilson two. New female featured players Nasim Pedrad and Jenny Slate joined, while Abby Elliott and Bobby Moynihan remained as featured players. Will Forte left after eight seasons, and Slate was let go at season's end. Repertory players included Fred Armisen, Will Forte, Bill Hader, Seth Meyers, Andy Samberg, Jason Sudeikis, Kenan Thompson, and Kristen Wiig. Featured players were Abby Elliott, Bobby Moynihan, Nasim Pedrad, and Jenny Slate.

Writers

Colin Jost, Emily Spivey, and John Mulaney were named writing supervisors, replacing Paula Pell, who took a leave of absence. Pell returned starting with the Tina Fey-hosted episode, while Spivey left after that episode following nine years. Jorma Taccone left after five years, and John Lutz departed after six and a half years.

Specials

The second season of Saturday Night Live Weekend Update Thursday aired alongside this season, hosted by Seth Meyers and former co-host Amy Poehler. Three episodes aired as of June 2010; three additional episodes scheduled for spring 2010 were scrapped.
