The IT Division
Someone's fixing the network while the planet tries to eat the cables.
The IT Division is a data terminal log found within the world of Satisfactory, one of the many scattered data points the player-engineer can access across the alien factory site. It presents a first-person account from FICSIT's internal information-technology staff, offering a glimpse behind the corporate curtain into the mundane, bureaucratic, and occasionally anxious side of running a massive off-world manufacturing operation.
Unlike the more dramatic narrative terminals that discuss the local fauna or FICSIT's broader mission, this entry reads like an internal memo that was never meant for the field engineer's eyes—yet here it sits, glowing on a screen in the middle of a jungle, waiting to be read by the very person it was likely written about.

Lore & Background
In Satisfactory, the player arrives as a FICSIT engineer tasked with expanding a factory on a hostile alien world. Scattered across the terrain are data terminals—small, self-contained screens that display recovered logs from FICSIT's various departments. These terminals serve as the game's primary vehicle for worldbuilding, delivering lore in bite-sized, character-driven fragments rather than a single narrative arc.
The IT Division terminal fits into this broader pattern of corporate voice. FICSIT is presented as a vast, somewhat faceless megacorporation whose employees range from field engineers to back-office administrators. The IT staff, in particular, are the ones keeping the factory's digital infrastructure alive: routing data, maintaining the terminal network the player interacts with, and dealing with the very real problem that the local ecosystem does not care about your network topology. The terminal's tone is deliberately dry and procedural, a contrast to the more urgent or philosophical entries found elsewhere on the map.
For the player, reading this terminal is a small reward—a moment of levity and character that reminds you the factory is not just a puzzle to solve but a living corporate operation with people who get frustrated when a cable gets chewed by a Murtant.

Recovered Document — FICSIT Internal Network, Terminal Log
Location: Scattered data terminal, accessible during early-to-mid progression on the factory site. The terminal is unmarked except for the standard FICSIT data-access interface.
[VOICE: FICSIT IT DIVISION, INTERNAL MEMO — RE: FIELD NETWORK DEGRADATION]
I'll keep this brief, as I assume the field engineer reading this has better things to do than debug a switch. The short version: the eastern relay is down again. The long version: something in the local fauna has a particular fondness for our fiber runs, and the replacement stock is, as always, three weeks out. I have filed the incident. I have filed the follow-up. I have filed the follow-up to the follow-up. The network is, for now, functional. The word 'for now' is doing a great deal of heavy lifting in that sentence, and I would like it on record that I am not the one who approved the routing decision.
If your terminal is sluggish, it is not you. It is the planet. Thank you for your continued patience.

Fan note: This terminal matters because it humanizes FICSIT. The corporation is usually presented through grand mission statements or ominous warnings, but here we get a tired sysadmin filing a ticket about chewed cables. It grounds the sci-fi setting in the universal experience of corporate IT, and it subtly reinforces that the player's terminal access is a privilege maintained by real (if fictional) people doing unglamorous work in a hostile environment.
Did You Know?
- Satisfactory's data terminals are the game's primary lore-delivery mechanism, with dozens scattered across the map and unlocked progressively as the player advances through milestones.
- The game's setting is an alien planet with aggressive local fauna (including Murtants) that can damage factory structures, making the IT Division's complaints about cable damage a grounded in-world concern.
- Satisfactory was developed by Coffee Stain Studios and released into Early Access in 2019, with a full 1.0 release in 2024, and the data terminals have been a consistent part of the experience since launch.
