He returned to Fluminense in 1974, then moved to Flamengo in 1977. Later he played for New York Cosmos, winning three NASL titles, and also played for California Surf. He was capped 53 times for Brazil, scoring 8 goals. He died in Rio de Janeiro on 25 October 2016 due to a sudden heart attack.
