Seidenberg was drafted in the sixth round, 172nd overall, by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 2001 NHL entry draft. He spent three years with Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) before signing with the Flyers in 2002. He won the Calder Cup with the Philadelphia Phantoms in 2005. He was traded to the Phoenix Coyotes on 20 January 2006, and then to the Carolina Hurricanes on 8 January 2007. He signed a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers on 14 September 2009. On 3 March 2010, he was traded to the Boston Bruins, with whom he won the Stanley Cup in 2011. He was bought out by the Bruins on 30 June 2016. He signed with the New York Islanders on 28 September 2016, re-signed on 24 April 2017, and again on 26 February 2019, though he did not play for the Islanders that season. He announced his retirement on 23 October 2019.
