Plot

A mother tells her son Savva a bedtime story about White Wolves who used to guard their village. The wolves vanished long ago, but a legend says a warrior will eventually save the village. Soon after, hyenas attack, capturing the humans to sell as slaves to Mom-Jozee, a three-headed monkey queen. Savva escapes thanks to a white wolf named Anggee who appears. Anggee offers to take Savva to a magician, saying a warrior there can save the village, but they must cross the land of the monkeys. Savva agrees, and they meet a small pink creature named Puffy who insists on joining because he wants the magician to turn him back into a prince. They rescue an ugly creature named Fafl from monkeys; Fafl claims he was a handsome semi-baron cursed with ugliness by a witch and is permanently accompanied by the Mosquito King, who sits on his shoulder, until they agree on something—unlikely since they despise each other. Mom-Jozee orders spies to follow the group through her territory.

Puffy is kidnapped by swamp natives who think he is their god Makatunga. The tribe captures the rest, initially planning to kill them, but then frees them. They learn the tribe’s shaman, Shisha, once used magic to partially break Anggee’s curse, letting him become a white wolf again. Shisha tells Savva the tribe plans to help Makatunga return to heaven by killing him. Savva rescues Puffy from the temple, but they are followed by Nanty, Shisha’s granddaughter, who feels a mutual attraction to Savva and asks to join. That night, Nanty sees Anggee sneak away and transform into a Rickie, a human-like creature that is an enemy of humans and other races. Savva is angry at Anggee for lying, but is then kidnapped by another Rickie on orders from Anggee’s father. Mom-Jozee learns the Rickies are actually the white wolves and declares war on them so they can never become white wolves again.

Anggee returns to the Rickie kingdom and confronts his father, the king, about visiting the magician to undo their curse. The king says he does not want to become a white wolf again and refuses to help, but agrees to let Savva go. After regrouping, Anggee explains that during a famine, his father—while still a white wolf—attacked a human. As a result, all white wolves were cursed to become Rickies, and because they thought themselves powerful, they were cursed to fear mosquitoes, one of the smallest animals, which can kill a Rickie with a single bite. As the monkey army approaches, the group is joined by the natives and the Rickies, sent by Anggee’s father after learning of the war declaration. Before the battle, Nanty uses magic to sharpen Savva’s sword. The armies clash, and Mom-Jozee tries to send a mosquito swarm at the Rickies. Anggee’s father joins the battle riding a giant dragon. Fafl is forced to agree with the Mosquito King that only he can stop the swarm, freeing the Mosquito King to command the swarm to attack the monkeys instead.

After the battle, Savva and the group reach the magician’s home on a mountain, a house that walks on two legs. The magician, a little girl, grants everyone’s wishes. Fafl returns to his original appearance and becomes a full-baron. Anggee and the Rickies—except his father, who was happy as a Rickie—become white wolves again. Puffy, who was not actually a cursed prince, says he only wanted friends. Nanty says she has everything she needs. Savva is sent to another room to find the warrior but sees only his reflection in a mirror, realizing he himself has become the warrior. He returns to his village and defeats the hyenas’ leader in single combat, making him promise never to attack again. Anggee leaves to be the white wolves’ new king. Fafl decides to travel the world with Puffy as his companion. Nanty stays in the village with Savva, who is sad he may never see Anggee again. But Anggee, who never intended to stay away forever, returns. The film ends with Anggee, Savva, and Nanty running across a field of flowers.
