A pirate RPG sequel to Sea Dogs, despite legal name changes.
Released in 2003 for Windows, *Age of Pirates: Caribbean Tales* is a role-playing game from developer Akella. In Russia, it is known as *Corsairs III*. Because of legal issues, the game could not use the names of Akella's earlier pirate titles, *Sea Dogs* or *Pirates of the Caribbean*. Despite the different title, it was designed as a true follow-up to *Sea Dogs*, telling the story of the original protagonist's children. A sequel, *Age of Pirates 2: City of Abandoned Ships*, arrived in 2008. In 2017, the game was re-released on GOG and Steam under the name *Sea Dogs: Caribbean Tales*.
Players can take on the role of either Blaze Sharp or his stepsister Beatrice Sharp. While sailing on the world map, time speeds up to cover travel between Caribbean islands. Players are free to enter ports, fight ship-to-ship battles, or navigate dangerous storms. When on the open sea, sailing and naval combat happen in real time. On land, players can board enemy ships, duel captains one-on-one, and explore towns to recruit crew members and gather supplies.
The game's Spanish dub received harsh criticism from IGN Spain's David Soriano, who ranked it among the ten worst video game dubs in Spanish. He called it the worst dubbing for a video game, at least in Spain, adding: "We do not know what kind of substances were in the study [in which the game was dubbed]."
